The Wedding at Cana
There was a wedding in a town called Cana, in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited.
In the middle of the celebration, the wine ran out. Mary noticed, and said to Jesus:
—They have no more wine.
Jesus answered that his hour had not yet come. But Mary turned to the servants and said:
—Do whatever he tells you.
There were six stone water jars there. Jesus said to the servants:
—Fill the jars with water.
They filled them to the brim.
—Now draw some out —Jesus told them— and take it to the master of the feast.
They took it. The master of the feast tasted the water that had become wine. He did not know where it came from, but the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom and said:
—Everyone serves the good wine first and, when people have had plenty to drink, the worse wine. But you have saved the good wine until now!
This was the first sign Jesus performed, at Cana in Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
Mary noticed what was needed and trusted Jesus.
Let's talk: Mary noticed what others were missing. What can you notice that someone needs?
If something worries you, tell Jesus about it, like Mary. Goodnight.
