The Seed That Grows While You Sleep
Jesus told parables, which are simple stories with a very big message. One day he said:
—The kingdom of God is like a man who scatters seed on the ground.
—Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how.
—The soil produces grain by itself: first the stalk, then the head, then the full grain in the head. And when the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.
That is to say: while you sleep, the seed keeps growing. God makes things grow, even if you do not see it.
And Jesus also said:
—What shall we compare the kingdom of God to? It is like a mustard seed. When it is sown, it is the smallest of all the seeds on earth. Yet when it is planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can nest in its shade.
Something very tiny, with God's help, can become very big.
Let's talk: What little thing do you want to plant so that it grows with God's help?
While you sleep, God keeps making good things grow. Goodnight.
