The Rainbow, God's Promise
When Noah and his family came out of the ark, God spoke to them. He wanted to make them a promise.
—I make a covenant with you —said God—, with your children who will come after you, and with all the living creatures that came out of the ark: the birds, the tame animals and the wild animals.
And this is the promise:
—Never again will a flood destroy the earth.
God wanted to give them a sign so they would never forget his promise.
—I set my bow in the clouds —said God—. It will be the sign of my covenant with the earth. When I cover the sky with clouds and the bow appears, I will remember my promise to you and to all living creatures.
The bow that God set in the clouds is the rainbow.
So when you see a rainbow in the sky after the rain, you can remember that God keeps his promises.
Let's talk: Have you ever seen a rainbow? How did it make you feel?
God always does what he promises. Sleep peacefully. Goodnight.
