The Dove and the Olive Leaf
The ark floated for a long time. But the Bible says that God remembered Noah and all the animals that were with him.
God sent a wind over the earth, and the water began to go down. One day the ark came to rest on some mountains.
Noah opened a window of the ark and let a dove go, to see whether there was dry land yet. But the dove found nowhere to land, and came back to the ark. Noah reached out his hand and took it in.
He waited seven days and let it go again. In the evening, the dove returned with a fresh olive leaf in its beak. Noah understood that the water was going down.
He waited another seven days and let the dove go once more. This time it did not come back.
Then God spoke to Noah.
—Come out of the ark with your wife, your sons and your sons' wives —he said—. Bring out with you all the animals, so they may multiply on the earth.
And Noah came out, and all the animals came out, each according to its kind.
After the rain, the dry land came back.
Let's talk: How do you think Noah felt when he saw the olive leaf?
After every storm, God remembers us. Goodnight.
