The House on the Rock
Jesus was finishing his teaching. And then he told a story, so that everyone would understand well.
—Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice —said Jesus—, is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
—The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house. Yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
—But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
—The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house. And it fell with a great crash.
Jesus wants to tell us that it is not enough to hear his words: we have to put them into practice, do what he says. When we do, our life is firm like a house on the rock.
When hard days come, like the rain and the wind, if we are with Jesus, we do not fall.
Let's talk: What that Jesus taught can you put into practice tomorrow?
If you build your life on Jesus, you will stand firm. Goodnight.
