The Garden of Adam and Eve
God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nose the breath of life. And the man began to live. The Bible calls him Adam.
God planted a garden in a place called Eden. There he made beautiful trees grow, with good fruit to eat, and he put the man in the garden to look after it and work it.
But God said something important:
—It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make someone to help him and keep him company.
God brought to the man all the animals he had made. And the man gave names to all of them: the tame animals, the birds of the sky and the animals of the field.
But among them he did not find anyone like himself.
So God made the man fall into a very deep sleep. While he slept, God took one of his ribs and made the woman from it. Then he brought her to the man.
—This one at last! —said the man, very happy—. This one is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh.
Later on, the Bible gives the woman a name: Eve.
The two of them lived in the garden, and they loved each other and took care of each other.
Let's talk: Who keeps you company and takes care of you? How can you thank them?
God made us to live with others. Thank him for the people who love you. Goodnight.
