The Bread God Sent from Heaven
God's people were walking through the desert. One day, the people became hungry.
Many began to complain.
—We are hungry! —they told Moses—. In Egypt, at least we had bread to eat.
But God had heard them, and he said to Moses:
—I am going to rain bread from heaven. Each day let the people go out and gather what they need for that day.
That evening quail came and covered the camp. And in the morning there was dew all around, and when the dew dried up, something small and fine like flakes appeared on the desert ground.
—What is this? —the Israelites asked one another, because they did not know what it was.
—It is the bread the Lord gives you to eat —Moses told them—. Let each one gather what he needs to eat.
Everyone gathered. And there was enough for everyone: whoever gathered a lot did not have too much, and whoever gathered a little did not lack.
—Let no one keep any of it until the next morning —said Moses.
The people called it "manna." It tasted like honey cakes.
Each day, God gave them what they needed. That is how God took care of his people in the desert.
Let's talk: What can you thank God for today: your food, your home, your family?
God gives you what you need each day. Thank him. Goodnight.
