The Birth of Isaac
God had promised Abraham and Sarah that they would have a son. Many years had gone by. They were both very old.
But the Bible says that the Lord took care of Sarah and did what he had promised.
Sarah had a son. He was born exactly at the time God had said. Abraham named him Isaac, as God had told him.
When Isaac was eight days old, Abraham did for his son what God had commanded. Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born.
Sarah was so happy that she said:
—God has made me laugh, and everyone who hears about it will laugh with me.
And she added:
—Who would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse a baby? And yet I have given him a son in his old age.
God kept his promise. It took many years, but he kept it.
If you ever find it hard to wait for something, remember Sarah: God does not forget what he promises.
Let's talk: Is there something you are really looking forward to? How can you wait patiently?
God does not forget you. Goodnight.
