The Birds of the Air and the Lilies of the Field
One day Jesus was teaching, and he said to his disciples:
—Do not worry about what you will eat, or what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
—Look at the birds of the air: they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
—And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow: they do not work or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his glory was dressed like one of these.
—If God so clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not do much more for you?
—Your Father in heaven knows that you need all these things. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
—Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Jesus wants us to trust the Father. He takes care of the birds, of the flowers, and much more of you.
Let's talk: Is something worrying you? Can you tell your Father in heaven?
Leave your worries in God's hands. He takes care of you. Goodnight.
