Jesus Teaches Us the Our Father
Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples came up to him.
—Lord, teach us to pray —he said.
And Jesus taught them a very simple prayer. He told them:
—When you pray, say this:
—Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.
—Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
—Give us today our daily bread.
—Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
—And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
This prayer is called the Our Father. Jesus taught us to call God "Father," because God is a Father who loves us.
Today, Christians all over the world pray this prayer together.
If you like, you can pray it now, slowly, thinking about each sentence.
Let's talk: Which part of the Our Father do you like best?
Before sleeping, pray the Our Father slowly. Goodnight.
