Story 82 of 100 · Based on Luke 10:38-42
Martha and Mary
Jesus was on his way with his disciples, and he entered a village. There a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home.
Martha had a sister named Mary. Mary sat at the Lord's feet and listened to what he said.
Martha, on the other hand, was busy with many tasks. She came to Jesus and said:
—Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me.
But Jesus answered her kindly:
—Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed, or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.
Martha wanted to look after Jesus very well, and that was good. But Jesus reminded her that the most important thing is to be with him and listen to him.
Sometimes we have many things to do. But we can always make a little time for silence, to be with Jesus.
Let's talk: When is it better to stop and listen to Jesus?
Before sleeping, take a little quiet time and listen to Jesus. Goodnight.
