Joseph and Pharaoh's Dreams
Joseph was in prison in Egypt. The Bible says that God was with him.
One night, Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, had two very strange dreams. In the first, seven fat cows came up out of the river, and behind them came seven thin cows that ate up the fat ones. In the second, seven full heads of grain grew on one stalk, and seven dried-up heads swallowed them.
In the morning, Pharaoh was very worried and called all the wise men. But no one knew what the dreams meant.
Then someone remembered Joseph, and they sent for him.
—I have had a dream and no one can explain it to me —Pharaoh told him—. They say you can interpret it.
—It is not I —Joseph answered—. It is God who will give Pharaoh a good answer.
When Pharaoh told him his dreams, Joseph explained that seven years of plenty were coming, and after them seven years of famine.
—Let Pharaoh appoint a wise man to store up the grain of the good years —he advised.
Pharaoh looked at his officials:
—Can we find anyone like this man, in whom is the spirit of God?
And he put Joseph in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
Let's talk: Joseph said that wisdom comes from God. What can you ask God for tomorrow?
God can do great things with someone who trusts him. Goodnight.
