Jesus Calms the Storm
That day, when evening came, Jesus said to his disciples:
—Let us go over to the other side.
They left the crowd and went with Jesus in the boat. There were also other boats with them.
A furious storm of wind came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly full of water.
Jesus was in the stern, asleep on a cushion.
The disciples woke him up.
—Teacher, don't you care if we drown?
Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the sea:
—Quiet! Be still!
The wind died down and it was completely calm.
Then he said to his disciples:
—Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?
They were terrified, and asked each other:
—Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!
Jesus was with them in the boat, even though he seemed to be asleep. And Jesus is with you, even when there is a storm.
Let's talk: What are you afraid of? Can you ask Jesus for help?
If there is a storm, remember: Jesus can calm it. Sleep peacefully. Goodnight.
