The Man Lowered Through the Roof
Jesus was in a house in Capernaum. People heard that he was there, and so many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door. Jesus was speaking to them.
Then four men arrived, carrying a paralyzed man lying on a mat. They wanted to bring him to Jesus, but they could not get near because of the crowd.
So they made an opening in the roof right above where Jesus was, and lowered the mat with the sick man.
Jesus saw the faith of those men and said to the paralyzed man:
—Son, your sins are forgiven.
Some teachers of the law who were sitting there thought badly of Jesus. But he said to them:
—Which is easier: to say to the paralyzed man, "Your sins are forgiven," or to say, "Get up, take your mat and walk"? But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...
And he said to the paralyzed man:
—Get up, take your mat and go home.
The man got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. Everyone was amazed and praised God.
—We have never seen anything like this! —they said.
The friends of the paralyzed man did not give up, and they brought him to Jesus.
Let's talk: The four friends did everything they could to help. Whom can you help?
Good friends lead us to Jesus. Thank him for yours. Goodnight.
