The Baptism of Jesus
When Jesus was grown, he went from Galilee to the Jordan river, where John was baptizing. Jesus wanted John to baptize him.
John tried to stop him.
—I am the one who needs to be baptized by you —he said—, and do you come to me?
But Jesus answered him:
—Let it be so now, for in this way it is fitting for us to do what God wants.
Then John let him.
Jesus was baptized. And as soon as he came up out of the water, heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God coming down like a dove and landing on him.
And a voice from heaven said:
—This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were there, in that very special moment.
When you were baptized, God received you as his child too.
Let's talk: Do you know when you were baptized? Who was with you?
You are a beloved child of God. Goodnight.
