Mary Magdalene and the Risen Jesus
Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. She saw that the stone that closed the entrance had been removed.
She ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple.
—They have taken the Lord out of the tomb —she told them—, and we don't know where they have put him.
Peter and the other disciple ran to the tomb. They went in and saw the linen cloths lying there. And then they went back home.
Mary stayed outside the tomb, crying. She looked in and saw two angels in white.
—Woman, why are you crying? —they asked her.
—They have taken my Lord away and I don't know where they have put him.
Then she turned around and saw Jesus, but she did not know it was he.
—Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for? —Jesus said to her.
Mary thought he was the gardener.
—Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.
—Mary! —Jesus said to her.
She turned and said to him:
—Rabboni! —which means "Teacher."
Jesus asked her to go and tell his brothers that he was going up to his Father.
Mary Magdalene went and told the disciples:
—I have seen the Lord!
Jesus called her by name. And he calls you too.
Let's talk: How do you feel when someone calls you by name with love?
Jesus knows your name and calls you with love. Goodnight.
