Jesus Goes Up to Heaven
After rising, Jesus appeared to his apostles over a period of forty days and spoke to them about the kingdom of God.
One day, Jesus told them that they would receive the power of the Holy Spirit and that they would be his witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and to the ends of the earth.
After he said this, as they were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
The apostles kept looking up into the sky. Then two men dressed in white stood beside them and said:
—Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go.
Jesus did not leave us alone. He went up to heaven, but he promised us his Spirit.
