Jacob and Esau Embrace
Jacob had left home many years before, after a quarrel with his brother Esau. Now he was coming back, with his wife, his children and everything he had.
Suddenly Jacob looked up and saw Esau coming, with four hundred men. Jacob went ahead of his family and bowed down to the ground seven times as he came near his brother.
But Esau ran to meet him. He hugged him, threw his arms around his neck and kissed him, and they both wept.
Then Esau looked up and saw the women and children.
—Who are these with you? —he asked.
—They are the children God has graciously given your servant —Jacob answered.
Esau had also seen the gifts that Jacob was sending him, and he said:
—I already have plenty, my brother. Keep what is yours.
—No, please —Jacob insisted—. If I have found favor with you, accept my gift. Seeing you is like seeing the face of God, because you have welcomed me so kindly.
And Jacob insisted so much that Esau accepted.
The two brothers were at peace again.
Let's talk: With whom would you like to make peace? What would you say?
Making peace is one of the most beautiful things we can do. Goodnight.
