Bartimaeus, the Blind Man Who Wanted to See
Jesus was leaving the city of Jericho with his disciples and a large crowd. A blind man named Bartimaeus was sitting by the roadside begging.
When Bartimaeus heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth passing by, he began to shout:
—Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!
Many people scolded him and told him to be quiet. But he shouted all the more:
—Son of David, have mercy on me!
Jesus stopped.
—Call him —he said.
And they called the blind man.
—Cheer up! On your feet! He is calling you —they told him.
Bartimaeus threw his cloak aside, jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.
—What do you want me to do for you? —Jesus asked him.
—Teacher, I want to see.
—Go —Jesus said—. Your faith has healed you.
And immediately Bartimaeus received his sight. And he followed Jesus along the road.
Bartimaeus did not keep quiet, even though they scolded him. He asked Jesus for help, and Jesus listened to him.
Let's talk: Bartimaeus shouted so that Jesus would hear him. What would you ask Jesus for?
You can ask Jesus for what you need. He listens to you. Goodnight.
